  6. This is the readme.txt file.

  9. It is very IMPORTANT that you install and run the programs in the
  10. order described for the easiest setup.  You can deviate from this
  11. outline all you like without causing any harm to your computers or
  12. data, but doing things this way results in the smoothest set up.
  13.  
  14.  
  15. 1. If you haven't done so already, install the Palm desktop program
  16. that came with your handheld device first.  You'll need the
  17. installer program to upload files to your PDA.
  18.  
  19. 2. Install Handy Quote by running the hqsetup.exe installation
  20. program.  The install program will ask you where you want to install
  21. the desktop portion of Handy Qoute.  Choose any folder you like.  The
  22. HQdesktop program, documentation, and Palm programs will all be
  23. copied to this folder. Two run-time libraries (vfp500.dll and
  24. vfp5enu.dll) will be copied to your Windows system folder, and the
  25. CASL conduit will be registered with Hotsync.

  27. 3. Use your desktop installer to install the handyquote.prc file and
  28. the correct CASL support files for your PDA.  You must install two
  29. CASL run-time support files to run HQ.  If you are running Palm OS
  30. version 1.0 (Palm Pilot 1000 or 5000) install the CASLrt_5k.prc and
  31. CASL_Palm_Utils_5k.prc files. For all newer Palms, install the
  32. CASLrt_pro.prc and CASL_Palm_Utils_pro.prc files. If you are already
  33. running other CASL-based programs, these files may already be
  34. present in your PDA.

  36. IMPORTANT: Once both the desktop and PDA programs have been
  37. installed, perform a Hotsync once before using the desktop program
  38. to install your catalog.  This will create the CASL database folder
  39. inside your Palm user folder.
  40.  
  41. 4. Convert your data and import it with the HQdesktop program. (See
  42. the procedure in hq.doc or hq.txt.)
  43.  
  44. 5. Finally, hotsync again to upload the catalog into your PDA and
  45. begin using Handy Quote.
